The idea

Chronic metabolic inflammation does not just damage tissue, it retrains the immune system. A system built for infection and famine ends up chronically activated against metabolic signals instead, responding to ordinary stimuli with outsized inflammation. The mechanism is universal; the earlier metabolic strain in South Asian bodies simply pulls the trigger sooner. Whether this priming is acquired early in life, and therefore preventable, is one of the framework's open questions, not one of its settled claims.
