The idea
When blood vessels take damage, the body dispatches repair crews, endothelial progenitor cells, to patch the lining. Direct studies of South Asian men show fewer of these cells in circulation and a blunted ability to mobilize them. Understaffed crews meet a road taking more damage than average, and the backlog compounds. This is one of the framework's most directly evidenced concepts, though the repair deficit appears in other high-risk groups too.
