The idea
Mitochondria carry their own small genome, inherited from your mother, and its regional variants may tune how the engine trades efficiency against heat. Whether specific South Asian maternal lineages shape metabolic risk is a question the literature has circled for nearly two decades without settling. We track it as an open well, labeled honestly: hypothesis, not finding.
