The Sick Fat Cell
Swollen fat cells that recruit inflammation.
The idea
Not all fat cells are equal. A healthy fat cell is small and metabolically quiet. A sick fat cell is swollen, stretched, and actively recruiting immune cells to clean up the strain. This is universal biology, the same mechanism in every population. What differs is the threshold: in South Asian bodies the sickness appears at smaller cell sizes and lower body weights, before obesity, before visible weight gain, before any standard test would think to look.
